Zurich to do list

Inspired by confirmation of my parents' impending Swiss visit and a recent friend's post in which she made a list of all the fun things to do around her current home, I have compiled a list of fun sights and activities both in Zurich and nearby. I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Around Zurich:

Kunsthaus (Museum of Art)
Grossmünster and Fraumünster (churches)
St. Peterskirche
Zürich Zoo
Rietberg Museum
An opera at the Opernhaus
Swiss National Museum
Botanical Garden
Wildnispark Zürich
Belvoir Park
Chinese Garden Zürich
Sushi class
Football game at Stadion Letzigrund
Lindt chocolate factory tour
Truffle making class at Cailler
Lake Zurich boat ride

<1 hour away:
Basel Zoo (often rated one of the top five in the world)
Rhine Falls (been once, but should go again!)
Kunst Museum (Basel)
Augusta Raurica (Roman ruins near Basel)
Mount Rigi

Day trips/Weekend getaways:

  1. Hello,

    This is a great list.

Wednesday is FREE day at the Kunsthaus.

Insel Ufnau (on the Lake of Zurich, before Rapperswil) is very nice - small enough to explore easily.

Cable Car from Adliswil to Felsenegg - the restaurant is just 5 minutes from cable car station; great food and great view.

If you like a walk (approx. 1 hr.) walk from Uetliberg to Felsenegg.

  2. Wonderful, thank you for the additional suggestions! We live down near Adliswil so we'll have to take the cable car there soon.

  3. Yay! I love your list! Also, I'm frustrated that I can't imagine coming to see you (and do these things)in the near future (maybe next summer??). Have so much fun with your parents and take lots of photos to share with us!

  4. What a great idea! Totally want to do it, as long as it is not illegal to update when I think of more stuff.

  5. Hi Margaret - it's low brow, but the thrift store hound in me can't help but mention the Found Things Store (where they sell stuff never claimed on Swiss Public Transit) in Wollishofen. Tram 7 to Morgental - it's 6 steps from the stop on the same side of the street. Also the Frauenbad is super for a vitamin D infusion along the river on a hot day.

    1. Hi Kelly - I've been to the found things store now twice, I love it (straight shot on the 70 for me). And one of my friends has been trying to convince me to check out the Frauenbad this summer! Thanks so much for the add-ons!
